The MAC CARTHY FOUNDATION was initially founded to showcase the music of Colm Mac Carthy and to offer writers of original folk music an opportunity to record their music. Having achieved those goals it now archives the music of both the sponsored artists and that of Colm Mac Carthy.
ABOUT THE MAC CARTHY FOUNDATION
The MAC CARTHY FOUNDATION was a Foundation composed of passionate and committed musicians, who shared the goal of facilitating the creation of original folk and popular music. The Foundation took its name from its founding member, Colm Mac Carthy, an Edmonton Alberta music lover and physician. Mac Carthy grew up in Ireland and his own original compositions have been influenced by traditional Irish music, American and English folk singers and by finger style guitar legends like Stefan Grossman and John Renbourne.
